Halloween

BOO!

I love Halloween! I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I love the dressing up, the candy, sorting each piece out, keeping a few pieces for myself...:) I love the fun of walking up to someone's house and getting treats. I love it when people fawn over how cute my kids look.

My only problem with Halloween? The fact that we don't live in a neighborhood. Our lifestyle doesn't permit this. As much as I'd love to have neighbors, I love my privacy and the smell of farm land. The quiet darkness at night. A horse and eight chickens in my back yard.

I sometimes daydream of kids coming to my front door by the hundreds so I could put candy in their baskets (or, rather pillow cases these days...). I like to think of how they'd be dressed and if they'd be shy of my decorations...sigh...

Instead, I have to drive away from my home and look for a development where there are kids and lots of lights and decorations so that my kids can celebrate halloween. This year, I even bought candy so that I could pass it out to the fellow trick or treaters. Silly, I know, but I feel bad taking candy if I can't offer candy. Call me a conservative republican if you want. I don't mind. :)

So, let us all have a great All Hallow's Eve and I wish all your children lots of safety and TONS of candy! :)

We always did the same as you are when I was growing up and we are lucky if one family shows up at our house on Halloween now. An old high school friend of mine's (does that apostrophe make sense there? I can't tell) sister and her kids live further past our house, so on their way back from town they stop at our house to get their last little candy fix.
